The 911 Carrera 4 GTS (992.2) is the all-wheel-drive T-Hybrid GTS: the first hybrid 911's larger 3.6-liter flat-six with a single electric turbo (eTurbo) and an e-motor in the PDK, fed by a 400-volt, 1.9 kWh pack, driving all four wheels. It is a performance hybrid, not a plug-in.
The all-wheel-drive hardware adds mass on top of the hybrid's own weight, so this is the heaviest of the coupe GTS cars — the response, again, comes from the electric boost rather than lightness. Buy on the first-year software recalls and the unproven long-term hybrid costs.
US NHTSA campaigns for this model. A listed campaign may not apply to a particular car, and may already have been remedied — check a specific car by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
No. The eTurbo carries an electric motor on the shaft between the compressor and turbine wheels that spins it up instantly, so boost arrives from just off idle. Under load the same turbo runs as a generator, feeding the battery — there is no wastegate.
