The Audi S5 Coupe (2008-2012) is the performance version of the first-generation A5, a two-door quattro all-wheel-drive coupe on Audi's B8 platform. Power comes from a naturally aspirated 4.2-liter FSI V8, sending drive through a 6-speed manual (standard from launch) or a 6-speed Tiptronic automatic, added a few months later, to quattro all-wheel drive with a rear-biased torque split.
It's the only US-market S5 body style ever paired with this V8: the related S5 Cabriolet arrived two model years later with a different, supercharged V6 instead, and was never offered with the V8 in the US. Audi retired the V8 from the S5 line entirely with the 2013 model year facelift, which brought the Coupe in line with the Cabriolet's supercharged engine — making this naturally aspirated V8 era comparatively short.
