The 911 Turbo S (997.2) is the sharper, fully-loaded Turbo: the DFI twin-turbo flat-six with higher-flow turbos and revised mapping, shipped PDK-only, with center-lock wheels, PCCB carbon-ceramic brakes and Porsche Torque Vectoring as standard.
Like the Turbo, its DFI engine has no IMS bearing, so the failure mode of the older water-cooled cars does not apply. Inspect the coolant pipes and DFI fuel system, confirm the center-lock recall on 2010–2011 cars, and budget for the standard PCCB ceramics, which are expensive once worn.
US NHTSA campaigns for this model. A listed campaign may not apply to a particular car, and may already have been remedied — check a specific car by VIN at nhtsa.gov/recalls.
