The 911 GT2 RS (997.2) is the rear-drive, twin-turbo range-topper and, at launch, the most powerful and fastest 911 yet. It keeps the Mezger twin-turbo — turned up and rear-drive only — rather than switching to the DFI unit, with a six-speed manual and extensive carbon fiber. Roughly 500 were built, a few sources citing 510.
As a Mezger car it has no IMS bearing, but the turbocharged Mezger's coolant-pipe joints can weep with age and access is engine-out. Verify the center-lock wheel-hub recall, and treat any modified example with care.

Its roughly 7:18 Nürburgring Nordschleife lap made it the quickest road-legal 911 to that point. It is rear-drive only and uses the Mezger twin-turbo rather than the DFI unit.
