The 911 Carrera S (997.2) steps the rear-drive Carrera up to the larger 3.8-liter DFI 9A1 flat-six, with bigger brakes, wider rear wheels and standard PASM adaptive dampers. It runs the same six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK behind the facelifted 997.2 face, and an X51 PowerKit was optional.
As a DFI car it shares the generation's big win: the 9A1 has no intermediate-shaft bearing, so the IMS failure of the 996 and 997.1 Carrera is designed out. Buy on the age items — coolant pipes and the DFI fuel system — not on the old engine lottery.
