The 911 Carrera 4S (997.1) is the all-wheel-drive version of the 3.8-liter Carrera S: the larger M97 flat-six, bigger brakes and wider rear wheels, driven through all-wheel drive in the wide AWD body, with the optional X51 Powerkit available and a six-speed manual or five-speed Tiptronic S.

Because it uses the M96/M97 engine family, it carries the same bore-scoring risk and non-serviceable single-row IMS bearing as the rest of the Carrera range — buy on condition and history. Only the Mezger-engined Turbo and GT3 sidestep the engine worry.
