The 911 Turbo Cabriolet (996.2) is the open-top version of the wide-body twin-turbo 911, added during the 996 run. It shares the Turbo's 3.6-liter twin-turbo "Mezger" flat-six, all-wheel drive and six-speed manual or five-speed Tiptronic S, with a power fabric top in place of the coupe roof.
As a Mezger car, it does NOT carry the Carrera M96's IMS-bearing or bore-scoring risk — the intermediate shaft runs on oil-fed plain bearings and the bottom end is a race-derived dry sump. Inspect the turbos, coolant pipes and clutch, and confirm any X50 or aftermarket work, but the M96's engine lottery does not apply here.
