The 911 Carrera 4S (993) is the all-wheel-drive wide-body 993, built from 1996 to 1998 — famously the last car off the air-cooled line, a Riviera Blue 4S on March 31, 1998. It puts the 282 hp (285 PS) VarioRam naturally aspirated flat-six into the wider Turbo body with the Turbo's wider track, larger brakes and lowered stance, and adds the viscous-coupling all-wheel drive of the Carrera 4.

The 4S also came with a Turbo-grade interior as standard — leather, power seats, air conditioning — which, with its Turbo looks and naturally aspirated drivetrain, made it one of the most desirable everyday 993s. US cars are sometimes quoted at a slightly lower SAE rating than the European DIN figure.
