The 911 GT3 (991.2) is the track-biased, rear-drive 911 from Porsche's GT department. It uses a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six that revs to a 9,000-rpm redline — never turbocharged — and the big news was the return of a six-speed manual as a no-cost option alongside the seven-speed PDK, after the PDK-only 991.1 GT3.

It keeps rear-axle steering and a track-bred chassis. Do not confuse its 4.0-liter with the 991.1 GT3 engine caught up in the 2014 fire recall — this is the later unit. Factor carbon-ceramic and track-car running costs.
