GT-derived suspension, further track-focused over the Spyder.
Large GT-derived discs; PCCB carbon-ceramic optional.
The 718 Spyder RS (North America from 2024) is the flagship, hardest-edged 982 roadster — the open-top companion to the Cayman GT4 RS, running the same 911 GT3-derived naturally aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six that revs to a 9,000 rpm redline. It is PDK-only (no manual), and GT4 RS-style intake routing behind the seats lets more induction noise into the cabin.
The RS is a lightweight, track-focused special built on the Spyder. Its point is a like-for-like weight delta: Porsche's DIN comparison makes it about 88 lb (40 kg) lighter than a PDK 718 Spyder, though US curb-weight paperwork implies a smaller gap. The single biggest contributor is a two-piece lightweight manual top; the savings also come from carbon-fiber bucket seats, forged 20-inch wheels, a lightweight stainless sport exhaust and reduced sound deadening.
