The 718 Boxster S is the mid-range 982 roadster, running a 2.5-liter single-turbo flat-four in place of the base car's 2.0. Its turbo uses variable turbine geometry (VTG) — unusual on a gasoline engine — for a broader spread of boost. Rear-wheel drive, 6-speed manual or 7-speed PDK.
It sits above the base Boxster and below the GTS in the turbo-four range, and like the rest of the 982 it uses a newer engine design without the IMS or bore-scoring worries of much older Boxster/Cayman motors.
