1. 1Exercise the folding hardtop through a full open-and-close cycle and listen for the panels and seals working cleanly; it's the one major system the coupe doesn't have.
2. 2The 488 recalls affect the spider too: verify the fuel vapor separator (NHTSA 19V-090) and brake-fluid-leak (NHTSA 21V-833) campaigns are closed, and check the airbag campaigns (NHTSA 19V-411, 19V-006) against the VIN.
3. 3On 2016 cars, confirm the brake-disc-wear-warning software recall is closed (NHTSA 18V-164, which covered both the 488 GTB and Spider). A software error could reset the carbon-ceramic disc wear estimate and fail to warn of critically worn discs; the fix is an instrument-panel-node software update.
4. 4Like most 458/488-generation Ferraris, the soft-touch rubberized coating on the switchgear and console trim degrades and turns tacky with age. It's cosmetic, but a lasting fix means stripping and professionally refinishing the affected parts.
