TA stands for Time Attack, and it is the VX I's track-day trim below the full ACR. The 2013 TA 1.0 added revised aerodynamics, a stiffer suspension and carbon-fibre components to the standard car, and on March 18, 2013 a Motor Trend-tested SRT Viper TA set a production-car lap record at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca of 1:33.62, beating the previous benchmark Corvette ZR1 (1:33.70). It shares the base car's 640/645 hp V10 — the TA is about aero and chassis, not extra power.
For 2015 the TA 2.0 upgraded the aero: a bigger rear wing, new front dive planes and a new carbon-fibre front splitter lifted downforce to 400 lb at 150 mph, up from the TA 1.0's 278 lb, while the TA 1.0 remained available alongside it. The original TA 1.0 was a limited run of 159 cars (33 Venom Black, 33 Bright White, 93 TA Orange).
