AP Racing calipers
The Grand Sport is the open-top Veyron 16.4, shown in 2009. It keeps the 987 hp (1,001 PS) W16 and the full 253 mph roof-on top speed, but swaps the fixed roof for a removable rigid polycarbonate panel plus a fold-away emergency soft top. To keep the car stiff without a permanent roof, the monocoque was reinforced around the sills and B-pillars.
With the roof panel removed the car is speed-limited to 360 km/h (224 mph) to protect occupants and aerodynamics; the soft top is for low-speed weather only. Everything else is standard 16.4: same quad-turbo W16, 7-speed dual-clutch, and all-wheel drive. It is the open-air way into the 987 hp (1,001 PS) Veyron, and the rarest of the coupe-derived cars at 58 built.
