The Audi S3 Sedan (8V.5, 2017-2020) is the performance version of the facelifted third-generation A3, a compact quattro all-wheel-drive sport sedan. Power comes from a transverse 2.0-liter EA888 turbo four; in US tune it makes 292 hp (the European facelift car was rated higher, at 306 hp / 310 PS). Drive goes through a 6-speed S tronic dual-clutch, the only transmission offered on the US S3.
The US market got the S3 only as a sedan, never the Sportback hatch sold elsewhere. It's the sensible, everyday member of this family: quick and all-weather capable without the RS3's bigger engine, heavier hardware, or firmer edge.

The European facelift S3 was rated 306 hp (310 PS), but the US car kept the 292 hp tune for the whole 2017-2020 run. The gap is down to tune and market certification rather than different hardware, so the US spec figure is the 292 hp number.
