The Volante convertible followed the coupe to market in 2013, roughly a year after launch. Its body is entirely carbon fiber, topped by a triple-skin fabric roof, and Aston Martin claimed it was 13% torsionally stiffer than the DBS Volante it replaced despite losing the fixed roof. Like the coupe, it moved from a 6-speed to an 8-speed ZF Touchtronic III automatic partway through the 2014 model year.
It was discontinued alongside the base coupe after the 2016 model year, replaced for 2017-2018 by the Vanquish S Volante.
