Standard X51-type PowerKit (revised intake/exhaust) over the Carrera S 3.8.
The 911 Carrera GTS (997.2) is the enthusiast pick of the naturally aspirated cars, and unusual in the range: it pairs the wide Carrera 4 body and wider track with rear-wheel drive, adds the X51 PowerKit as standard, and comes with center-lock wheels and Alcantara trim. It slots between the Carrera S and the GT3, with a six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK.
It uses the DFI 9A1 flat-six, so it shares the generation's reliability win — no IMS bearing to fail. Buy on the age items: coolant pipes and the DFI fuel system.
