The 911 Carrera 4 (997.2) is the all-wheel-drive base 911, pairing the direct-injection 3.6 9A1 flat-six with all-wheel drive and the wider body the AWD cars share with the Turbo, through a six-speed manual or seven-speed PDK.
Mechanically it mirrors the rear-drive Carrera, and it shares the DFI engine's big reliability win: the 9A1 has no IMS bearing, so the failure mode of the 996 and 997.1 Carrera is designed out. The AWD hardware and wide body add a little weight for a more planted feel.
