The 911 GT3 RS (996.2) is the homologation-special, most track-focused 996 — a lightened, more hardcore version of the GT3. It shares the GT3's naturally aspirated 3.6-liter "Mezger" flat-six and six-speed manual, and like the GT3 that engine does NOT carry the Carrera M96's IMS-bearing or bore-scoring risk. It was never officially imported to the US or Canada — no US pricing was ever set — and came only in white with red or blue model script; cars in the States today generally arrived later under the 25-year import exemption.
The RS is the lightest of these cars, roughly 44 lb (20 kg) under the standard GT3. The saving is bought with a carbon-fiber-reinforced hood and rear wing, a lighter single-mass flywheel, and deleted air conditioning, radio and sound insulation, with a full roll cage fitted as standard. (The quoted ~2,998 lb (1,360 kg) figure includes a full 90-liter fuel tank; one source frames the saving as ~110 lb (50 kg) versus a GT3 Club Sport baseline, but the published curb figures support the ~44 lb (20 kg) delta against the standard GT3.)
