New-for-993 aluminum multi-link (LSA) rear axle — the change that tamed the old 911 lift-off oversteer.

The 911 Carrera 4 Cabriolet (993) is the all-wheel-drive soft-top 911, built from 1995 to 1998. It pairs the open body with the same viscous-coupling AWD system and air-cooled M64 3.6-liter flat-six as the Carrera 4 coupe, driven through a six-speed manual only.
As with the rest of the range it carries the 268-then-282 hp (272-then-285 PS) VarioRam engine change from MY1996. The convertible body adds weight and sheds a little rigidity over the coupe, but keeps the all-weather traction of the AWD driveline.
