The 911 Carrera S (992.2) steps the rear-drive Carrera up to the S tune of the 3.0-liter twin-turbo, now with new turbochargers and revised charge-air cooling. The notable change at the facelift is what it lost: the seven-speed manual is gone, so the S is PDK-only.
That makes a factory manual a Carrera-T-or-GT3 proposition in the 992.2. Otherwise it is the sweet-spot Carrera; buy on the first-year software recalls rather than any mechanical worry.
