The 911 Carrera (991.2) is the rear-wheel-drive base 911 of the facelifted Type 991, built for 2016–2019. Its headline is under the rear deck: the naturally aspirated Carrera flat-six was retired for a new 3.0-liter twin-turbo (the 9A2 family), so the "regular" 911 became a turbo car for the first time. Drive goes through a seven-speed manual or seven-speed PDK.
The facelift also brought standard PASM with a lower ride height and a new touchscreen infotainment system. It is broadly reliable — no IMS bearing, minimal bore-scoring risk — but watch two known items: coolant weeping at the water-pump housing and, on early cars, a turbo oil-feed line that can cause startup smoke.
