1. 1The 991 was the first 911 with electromechanical (electric) power steering in place of the old hydraulic rack; it is efficient, but many drivers find it lighter on feel than the 997 — drive one first if steering feel is a priority.
2. 2Water-cooled flat-six 911s can weep coolant with age and corrode the exposed front-mounted A/C condensers on road debris — check for coolant seepage and condenser damage.
3. 3Confirm the 991.1's safety recalls were closed: a 2014–2015 front-hood latch that might not latch (NHTSA 14V698000) and, on 2016–2017 cars, an airbag control-unit capacitor that could disable the airbags or set them off (NHTSA 19V533000); some 2014 Carreras also had a passenger-seat airbag-wiring recall (NHTSA 13V502000).
4. 4Early 2012–2013 base Carrera and Carrera 4 cars with the standard exhaust had a recall for the tailpipe fracturing and separating from the rear muffler (NHTSA 13V058000) — confirm it was addressed.

  The standard-exhaust tailpipe could fracture and separate from the rear muffler.
