The 570S was launched at the 2015 New York Auto Show as the volume model of the new entry-level 'Sports Series', it wraps the same carbon-fiber MonoCell II tub and mid-mounted 3.8-liter twin-turbo V8 around a more usable, road-leaning package. The M838TE makes 562 hp (570 PS, hence the name) and 443 lb-ft, drives the rear wheels through a 7-speed dual-clutch, and hits 62 mph in 3.2 seconds. Tops out at 204 mph.
Because it uses the same carbon-tub-and-twin-turbo-V8 fundamentals as far more expensive McLarens, the 570S is widely regarded as a bargain supercar. It targets the Porsche 911 Turbo, Audi R8 and Mercedes-AMG GT, and was replaced in spirit by the hybrid V6 Artura in 2021.

It is the metric horsepower rating: 570S denotes 570 PS, which is about 562 hp. McLaren names its cars this way — 540C, 600LT and 675LT follow the same PS-based convention.
McLaren has never published official 570 production numbers. A widely repeated dealer/market estimate puts the 570S coupe at roughly 3,800 units and the whole 570 family (570S, Spider, GT and specials) at 6,000-plus, but these are not confirmed figures and should be treated only as estimates.
