The Murcielago Roadster (2004-2006) is the open version of the original 6.2-liter car. It's the same as the coupe, but adds a lightweight fabric top that you fit by hand and stow in a bag rather than a powered folding roof. Lamborghini styled it as a permanent convertible, with revised buttresses and engine cover.
The top is a deliberately minimal affair, and a warning on the windshield header tells you not to exceed 100 mph with it fitted. It trades a little rigidity and top-end for open-air drama, and is the rarer of the two early cars.
This is the earlier 6.2-liter open Murcielago. The LP640 Roadster that followed uses the bigger, more powerful 6.5-liter V12 along with the mid-life restyle, so it's quicker and a bit more usable. This base Roadster is the purer, earlier statement of the open car.
