The Ferrari SF90 XX Spider is the open-top version of the XX Stradale. Revealed on June 29, 2023 and limited to 599 examples, it combines the XX's uprated hardware, the 1,016 hp (1,030 PS) plug-in-hybrid drivetrain, extra-boost Qualify logic and fixed rear wing, with a retractable hard top. It is the rarer of the two XX bodies and the only open-top XX car Ferrari has built.
Mechanically it matches the XX Stradale: the same 786 hp (797 PS) F154 FB V8 and three electric motors, the same 8-speed dual-clutch, the same front-motor all-wheel drive, and the same claimed 2.3 seconds to 100 km/h and 199 mph. The retractable hard top adds mass over the coupe, as on the standard SF90, but the fixed rear wing and the rest of the aero package carry over so the car keeps its track-focused character with the roof stowed.
A 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 drives the rear wheels through an 8-speed dual-clutch gearbox, and three electric motors add drive: one (the MGUK) sits between the engine and gearbox, and two more, one per wheel, sit on the front axle. Those front motors make the SF90 all-wheel drive and also vector torque left-to-right; above about 135 km/h (84 mph), or once the battery is depleted, drive reverts to the rear. A 7.9 kWh lithium-ion pack gives roughly 25 km (16 mi) of electric-only range and can move the car on the front axle alone in eDrive mode. Mode selection is by a second steering-wheel dial, the eManettino (eDrive, Hybrid, Performance, Qualify).
