The Ferrari Roma Spider is the convertible version of the Roma coupe, revealed in March 2023. Mechanically it's the same car: the F154 BH 3.9-liter twin-turbo V8, 8-speed dual-clutch, and rear-wheel drive, with the same 'La Nuova Dolce Vita' styling. What sets it apart is the roof. Instead of the folding metal hardtop Ferrari used on the California and Portofino, the Roma Spider uses a folding fabric soft top, Ferrari's first front-engine car with a canvas roof in more than 50 years.
The five-layer top folds in a Z pattern and stows in very little space, so the Spider keeps a usable trunk and a low deck when open. A patented wind deflector built into the rear bench cuts buffeting with the roof down. The trade-off is weight: the Spider is about 84 kg heavier than the coupe (dry) once you add the mechanism, deflector, headrests, and reinforcement, but the headline performance figures are effectively unchanged. It replaces the Portofino M as Ferrari's entry-level V8 convertible and is built in Maranello.
