M compound discs standard; M carbon-ceramic brakes optional.
The BMW M3 CS (2018) is the lighter, hotter send-off for the F80, about 1,200 built globally. The S55 twin-turbo is tuned to 453 hp (460 PS) and 443 lb-ft (600 N·m), and in the US it was dual-clutch only. On top of the carbon roof standard on every F80 M3, the CS adds a carbon-fiber hood, front splitter and rear diffuser, an Alcantara-trimmed interior, thinner glass and standard Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires.
The carbon and trim changes make it the lightest F80 M3, roughly 110 lb (about 50 kg) under a comparably equipped Competition. That's a modest scale saving, so the CS is as much about the sharper spec and exclusivity as outright weight loss. It's the halo of the generation, later echoed by the G80 M3 CS.
The CS adds a hotter 453 hp tune, a carbon-fiber hood, splitter and diffuser on top of the standard carbon roof, standard Cup 2 tires and Alcantara trim, for roughly 110 lb less than a Competition. On the scale that saving is modest, so the case for it is the sharper, more focused spec and the exclusivity of the F80 send-off, not a big performance gap. Whether that's worth the step up in price is the buyer's call.
