The BMW M3 30 Jahre (2016) is a limited anniversary edition marking 30 years of the M3, counting from the 1986 E30 original. Just 500 were built worldwide, with 150 coming to the US. Underneath it's a Competition-package M3: the S55 twin-turbo at 444 hp (450 PS), the retuned differential and stability control, firmer suspension and 20-inch wheels.
What sets it apart is the appearance, not the performance. It wears Individual Macao Blue, a color revived from the E36 M3, with a Fjord Blue and black leather interior and 30 Jahre badging. Mechanically it matches the Competition car it's built on.
Mechanically it's the same as a Competition-package M3, so it's no quicker. The 30 Jahre value is the anniversary status, the exclusive Individual Macao Blue paint (an E36 M3 color), the Fjord Blue interior and the badging, on a strictly limited run. Buy it for the rarity and the spec, not for extra performance.
