M Performance discs standard; M carbon-ceramic brakes optional.
The BMW M2 CS (2020-2021) is the focused, part-carbon send-off for the F87, with about 2,200 planned for North America and Eurasia. The S55 twin-turbo is tuned to 444 hp (450 PS) using the M4 Competition-package ECU map, and the car gets a carbon-fiber hood, roof, front splitter, rear diffuser and center console, standard Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2 tires, the bigger M Performance brakes as standard, and an optional carbon-ceramic brake upgrade.
The carbon parts make it the lightest F87, though only by roughly 50 lb (about 25 kg) over a comparably equipped Competition, so the CS is less about scale weight loss and more about the sharper, more exclusive spec. It's the halo of the first-generation M2.
Mechanically the CS is a Competition with a hotter engine tune, carbon-fiber body panels (hood, roof, splitter, diffuser), a carbon console, standard Cup 2 tires, the bigger brakes as standard and optional carbon-ceramics. On the scale it's only modestly lighter, so the case for it is the sharper, more focused, more exclusive send-off spec rather than a big performance gap. Whether that's worth the step up in price is the buyer's call.
