The Audi RS5 Coupe (2018-2024) returned to the US as the range-topping performance model above the S5, this time switching from the prior generation's naturally aspirated V8 to a twin-turbocharged 2.9-liter TFSI V6 co-developed with Porsche and shared with the Panamera and Macan. Power runs through an 8-speed Tiptronic automatic to quattro all-wheel drive with a standard, torque-vectoring sport rear differential not fitted to the S5.

A mid-cycle facelift for the 2020 model year updated styling and technology without changing the engine's output, which stayed the same from 2018 launch through the end of the 2024 model year. Unlike the prior B8.5 generation, which paired the RS5 Coupe with an RS5 Cabriolet, this generation instead added an RS5 Sportback — the Cabriolet body style has not existed on any RS5 since the B8.5 generation.
