The Audi S5 Sedan is the performance version of the third-generation A5, introduced on July 16, 2024 and reaching the US as a 2025 model. It effectively replaces the outgoing A4/S4 sedan line: Audi has moved to a naming scheme that gives combustion-engine models odd numbers and electric models even numbers, so the sedan that would previously have carried an S4 badge is now sold as the S5. Built on Audi's new Premium Platform Combustion architecture rather than the outgoing MLB Evo underpinnings, this generation also drops the S5 nameplate's traditional Coupe, Cabriolet, and Sportback body styles — in the US, the B10 S5 is sold exclusively as a five-door liftback sedan. Audi builds it in Neckarsulm, Germany.
Two other changes distinguish this generation from the prior turbocharged-V6-only S5: the 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 now carries a 48-volt mild-hybrid system (Audi calls it "MHEV plus"), the nameplate's first electrified powertrain, adding up to 24 hp (24 PS) and roughly 170 lb-ft (230 N·m) of extra assist for short bursts. Audi also swapped the previous 8-speed Tiptronic torque-converter automatic for a new 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch gearbox. Quattro all-wheel drive remains standard.
