The Audi RS3 Sedan (8V.5, 2017-2020) is the range-topper of the facelifted A3 line and the first RS3 Audi ever sold in North America. It's powered by Audi's signature engine: a transverse 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-five (EA855 evo, code DAZA) making 394 hp (400 PS) and 354 lb-ft, driving all four wheels through a 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch and quattro.
Against the S3 it trades weight for pace: the RS3 is about 231 lb (105 kg) heavier, mostly the iron-block five-cylinder plus larger brakes and the beefier gearbox. That's the honest trade, extra mass in exchange for roughly 100 more horsepower and a five-cylinder character no four or six in the class can match. Standard cars are limited to 155 mph; an optional pack raises that to 174 mph.

It's the 2.5-liter turbocharged inline-five (EA855 evo, code DAZA), an Audi signature configuration going back to the 1980s Sport Quattro. Its offbeat 1-2-4-5-3 firing order gives it a warbly, half-a-V10 sound unlike any four or six in the class, and it's the same basic engine family used in the TT RS.
